Porsche Follows Audi, Pulls Factory Team From ALMS [Racing News]

Porsche has said it will no longer be sponsoring an LMP2 team in next year's American Le Mans Series, despite winning the last three LMP2 championships.

News of Porsche pulling its winning RS Spyder from prototype racing follows the surprising news of Audi's departure from LMP1. Like Porsche, Audi was also incredibly successful in the series. There's no explanation for why either team pulled out of the North American series. The most obvious reason is the Carpocalypse, though it is possible the company is looking to compete in another series.

There's some good news in the wings as ALMS says that GT2 will be joined by another manufacturer in the near future, in addition to the return of Corvette and the debut of BMW. What could be joining the Porsches and Ferraris? Perhaps the Lexus LF-A? We'll just have to wait and see.

2009 Porsche Boxster Revealed Live [2009 Porsche Boxster]

Though the 2009 Porsche Boxster may appear to have received only a light visual refresh, limited to a few slightly tweaked lines and some LED lights from its big brother, the internals have received enough attention to launch the Boxster from hairdresser-chic to something the performance-minded could consider. The PDK double-clutch should provide a quick alternative for those unwilling or uninterested in doing the shifting themselves. Power also gets an upgrade to 255 and 310 HP in the base unit and the Boxster S, respectively. Perhaps most important of all, the new Porsche will likely have an optional limited slip differential for those that are inclined towards driving somewhere more challenging than the Palm Beach Mall parking lot.

We're afraid the entry-level Porsche will always catch flack for not being the über-Porsche despite the fact that Porsche has almost always tried to offer varying levels of performance and comfort with its model line. Though we'd still prefer the 2009 Porsche Cayman, the Boxster has improved its performance beyond the reputation it has.

With a larger, 3.6-liter narrow-angle V-6 engine making 290 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, up 43 hp

But who ever said that a Porsche Cayenne has to be cheap?Whatever your thoughts on the green debate, the model is a technological tour de force. The off-roader can deliver the 0-60mph sprint in five seconds and top 170mph, which is a lot faster than a supercharged Range Rover Sport.
