Ferrari F430 Berlinetta Spotted In Super Fresh [Brace Yourself], Looking Super Fly

Spotted during a grocery run to the local Super Fresh, this Ferrari is definetly a surprising, rare find given the surrounding blue collar neighborhood. My theory: there’s a gym that backs up to the grocery store on the other side of the shopping center. The Ferrari belongs to one of the trainers who lucked out and is banging a rich older lady. Yes? No? Differing theories?

Today’s Zoolander- esque Explosion Brought To You By Anderson, South Carolina

In Anderson, SC, police were summoned to a public park after receiving reports of a vehicle explosion that had occurred nearby. According to officers who responded to the scene, prior to the incident, the two men inside the car had been huffing computer keyboard cleaner. So intense it blew out all the car’s windows, the blast was apparently ignited when one of the men attempted to light a cigarette inside the car.

Miraculously still alive, both men were air lifted to the Augusta Burn Center to be treated for second degree burns on their face, neck, and chest. Authorities have not confirmed whether or not they plan to charge the two men with any criminal activity.

Congress forced to lease green rigs

Congress passed a law, now they have to follow it. The law will make them go green whether they want to or not. And I for one believe it’s about darn time. Seriously enough is enough. Let’s force them to do something that makes sense instead of shoveling more money in Exxon’s already fat wallets.

At a time when gasoline costs more than $4 per gallon, do lawmakers really want to sit behind the wheel of a big honking SUV or some other gas-guzzling symbol of luxury, and on the taxpayer’s dime?
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s three-year drive to bring fuel efficiency to the federal vehicle-leasing program finally got some wheels. The EPA finally has compiled a list of what can be leased under Cleaver’s 2005 proposal, which requires members of the House of Representatives who lease a vehicle taxpayer expense to pick one with low greenhouse-gas emissions.

Holden’s 570-hp HSV W427 Rebadged as Vauxhall for UK Market: Pontiac Jealous?

Even the “refined” tastes of the UK appear poised for the arrival of some Holden horsepower & design as the HSV W427 and its 570-hp fresh from their Melbourne debut are getting rebadged as the Vauxhall VXR8 for the UK market. Powered by the new Corvette ZO6’s LS7 7.0 liter V8 engine the HSV W427 has been stated to have 570 hp, the Holden HSV W427 is aggressively targeted at the BMW M5 and the Audi RS6. Why should they aim for less?

The Holden HSV W427 (not the easiest name to say) is priced in the area between $140,000 to $170,000 Aussie dollars and will have its rebadged Vauxhall version in the UK priced at 55,000 Pounds ($110,000 US). The HSV W427 is certainly a brute force sedan with reclassed styling and refinement for a GM product, but at a price similar to the M5 will the Holden/Vauxall name plate win against a BMW head-to-head. Judging by Automobile Mag’s comparison of a G8 GT to a BMW 550i…. maybe.

The Pontiac G8 GT is based off the same Holden Commodore design as the HSV W427, and with its 361-hp engine it competed nicely against the 550i of BMW at nearly half the price. The only disparity was in the interior where the GM plastics, while much improved from prior attempts, were really no match for the classic elegance of the BMW’s. However, at half the price some disparities can be forgiven. By pricing the Vauxhall VXR8 too close to the BMW M5, and despite the Corvette power, it could be a tough sell in a Euro-first market. As long as they can keep the US executives/designers hands out of the rebadging process the Vauxhall VRX8 will have a better chance. (more…)

Is it one thing to be Car Crazy and still another thing to just be Crazy? Is to be the first that significant?

When the news broke that pre-sales for the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 were reaching a premium of up to $20,000 over MSRP I was, not shocked so much, but outraged. Not at the dealership’s for “getting theirs” and not at Dodge for enjoying some much needed “love”, but at the general idea. How Crazy are we to need to be at the head of the line? How much are we really willing to spend?
Well, I believe I got my answer to that this weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Auction.

This year the right to be the first to own one of the three instant classic/collector cars was being auctioned off. (more…)

Controlling the Road Rage within is essential for everyone’s safety and YOUR sanity

There are incidents on our roads everyday that could potentially set our blood to boil. For many there is a tipping point to where the responses to those events become hazardous and potentially fatal to ourselves and, more importantly, to the innocent bystanders around us. That flip of the switch is when Road Rage takes over and others would be advised to clear a path.

Here is the encyclopia’s explanation of Road Rage:
Aggressive behaviour while driving a motor vehicle on a public highway. There is no specific road rage offence in England and Wales, but such behaviour may involve a breach of other laws. If the aggressor causes injury, he or she may face conviction for murder, causing death by reckless driving, battery, or some other offence.

Roadster Aplenty: Dodge Demon Concept

At the Geneva Auto Show in March Dodge unveiled their Demon Roadster concept. Yet another two-seat roadster to possible consider in the coming year. Dodge has not announced any plans to put the Demon into production, but it certainly would be a nice lite addition to their beefier car lineup.

In a recent test drive of the Dodge Demon Car and Driver gave the car very favorable marks in comparison to the Saturn Sky and the newly redesigned Mazda Miata. Both in style and in comfort the Demon may position itself in a closer competition with the Nissan 350Z; baseline engine ofcourse.

Since this car is based off of the Crysler Crossfire’s frame and with the recent sale of Crysler, we’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for the mini-Demon on Wheels.
